Founder & Creative Director KatiLin Stone launched the brand this February after studying knitwear at the Fashion Institute of Technology and working for brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Ohne Titel and Elie Tahari. Now based in California, Stone designs her own knitwear collection.

“Every Nello June piece begins with a feeling—usually something tied to summer, nostalgia, or a place I wish I could escape to,” said Stone. Her creative process starts by picturing the customer. Knitwear’s fluid nature makes the material unique; how the wearer styles it is crucial. 

“I often start by imagining the shoot or the moment a customer wears it—where they are and how the dress moves. Color, nature and travel are always part of the story, playing a huge role in shaping each collection’s mood,” she said. “I design the silhouette, source yarns and work closely with skilled knitters. It’s an intimate, hands-on process—every pointelle panel, every scalloped finish, is there for a reason.”

The beauty of a knit dress is that it can serve as a standalone statement piece. Tying it together with accessories is what makes the dress come alive. 

“The Luna Mini feels perfect with a minimal slide and a touch of gold jewelry, while the June Maxi dresses up beautifully with strappy heels for dinner,” added Stone.

With the brand’s Southern-California roots in mind, and naming Nello June after her grandmother, Stone takes inspiration from the environment. Made from eco-friendly yarn, Nello June knitwear is intended to look elevated and to last.
