Is Aspen Becoming a Fashion Capital? Moncler Grenoble Hits The Slopes

There’s never been a fashion capital of the Rocky Mountains. However, Western wear and luxury skiwear are what’s trending right now. So it makes perfect sense that the Moncler Grenoble runway show in Aspen on Jan. 31 is all over our feeds.

Pulling from our recent Milan Fashion Week coverage, we are taking a sigh of relief. We are not delusional, because Moncler’s most recent Aspen-inspired show just proved it: “this fucking play is about us.”

Many brands have been utilizing Aspen as the backdrop of their brand trips, but Moncler went above and beyond. The show was not only the release of their Fall Winter 2026 Collection, it also shared a weekend with the opening of their first U.S. Flagship store in Aspen. As a result, celebrities like Adrien Brody, Emily Ratajkowski, Kevin Costner and more, hit a run on the slopes and on the runway.

Aspen wasn’t just the inspiration for the collection, as the outdoor show at T-Lazy-7 Ranch brought the natural landscape to life. The brand fully immersed itself into the mountain town’s magic, proving that Colorado serving as a fashion capital isn’t really that far off.

There’s aspirational fashion in Colorado, but more often, the fashion ends up being tied to our environment. There is a natural way of being here; the sky is always blue, the air is always crisp and as a result, we are connected to nature in many ways.

By definition, a fashion capital is a major city with global influence on clothing trends, fashion design, production and retailing. These are cities that are internationally recognized for their fashion.

A move like Moncler’s flagship store to the very roots of an aspen tree is an international statement, and will bring an even stronger global presence to the premier and boujee mountain town (after all, fashion capitals have to be glamorous).

Moments from the show have been circulating online, even reaching the desks of those who aren’t invested in luxury fashion houses. The media attention stems from the show’s unique take on presenting fashion.

Lately, luxury fashion has been showing up in the same ways. Although fashion houses are finding unique ways to present their collections, the skylines of the fashion capitals remain the same and the rest of the country is left by the wayside.

And not to rub it in, but we were on to this already.

With Penn Badgley, Maria Sharapova, Odell Beckham Jr. and Alessandra Ambrosio in attendance throughout the weekend, Moncler’s debut was quite the spectacle. Even a co-designed branded snowboard hit the runway, a partnership with Sean White and his label WHITESPACE.

We love the way this collection leaned into what Colorado is known for: skiing and the wild west. It also drew from nostalgic styles that are making a comeback, like cinched waists and moon boots.

The show opened with Gigi Hadid, who walked in a green snowsuit equipped with a western collar, suede fringe and embroidered flowers.

Moncler’s customers are versatile trendsetters seeking form and function. The brand crafts pieces meant to withstand extreme winter conditions and sports, while style and intention remain the focus.

Moncler is bringing their A game to Aspen, and us fashion-loving Coloradans are here for every moment of it.
