A Poolside Fashion Soirée: Color of Fashion x BruceGlen Lit Up Denver

After much anticipation, Color of Fashion took their fifth season of runway shows to whole new heights on Saturday, September 6. Hosted on the rooftop of NOVEL Uptown, this elegant soiree was oozing with upscale activations, branded cocktails, swag by PopSockets and gorgeous city views.

Unlike their previous shows, which typically showcase a roster of local and national designers, Color of Fashion designated the night to one designer only: BruceGlen. To ensure the bright and colorful BruceGlen designs remained the focus of the night, the theme of the event was Mocha Mousse, paying homage to the Pantone color of the year. Even the luxury Denver apartment rebranded itself almost overnight to fit the theme. Mocha Mousse colored pillows and chairs with branded “CoF” logos took over the top floor while BruceGlen banners lit up the rooftop.

Fashionable guests from all around Colorado came dressed in different iterations of the Mocha Mousse color palette while they mingled and sipped on espresso martini cocktails and enjoyed plated Ethiopian cuisine by Konjo Ethiopian Food based in Denver. PopSockets also activated in the lobby and brought mocha colored phone accessories just in case your phone needed to be on theme too.

For a more VIP experience, Social Club by Daria Olanski took over NOVEL’s Capital Lounge for a blended collaboration with fashion, food, drinks and community as a pre-party before the show.

The best part of a fashion show is the anticipation. Guests are left wondering what will be shown on the runway and how these looks will come to life. Attendees already were privy to the fact that BruceGlen brings joy, color and patterns to life through beautifully executed and wearable designs; however, the question of the night was – how will these looks translate to the new Denver audience?

Fueled by good energy and even better libations, eager and fashionable attendees took over the rooftop at sunset as the show was announced to start. As the show began, models emerged from multiple directions dressed in the mocha theme with imaginative and avant-garde hairstyles constructed by lead hairstylists Keva Morris and James Mucker.

Behind the Runway: How This Denver Show Centers DEI On and Off the Stage

The opening segment was intended to focus on the talent of the hair and makeup team, accompanied by nude and neutral outfits for these looks to take center stage. As a result, the looks pushed the boundaries of what we typically see on the runway and, in some ways, were almost nostalgic. Remember the 1997 movie B.A.P.S.?  Local Denver fashion stylist and personality, Taylor Jade, commented that these looks were exactly what a 90’s Black American Princess would rock.

As for the makeup, lead makeup artist Kyle Hamilton was inspired by the Pat McGrath glass skin makeup look and the makeup team executed each ensemble flawlessly.

The show continued with a burst of color, queuing in BruceGlen’s notable use of bold hues and dramatic patterns. Models stomped through the weaving runway set from the rooftop lounge to the poolside cabanas, rocking sleek bobs with blunt bang hairstyles as the perfect accessory for these iconic BruceGlen pieces. The Color of Fashion team never misses a beat when it comes to being extremely detail-oriented with the beauty looks. That being said, the nail art on the models by lead artist DeeMichelle and her talented team crafted over the top and vibrant nail looks to accompany these dramatic designs.

The twin designers are experts when it comes to pattern mixing and have a knack for constructing matching sets that embody both comfort and style. These colorful looks would challenge anyone who prefers more muted hues; however, each outfit proved itself to not only be wearable but also look good on anybody and everybody. Every look was a conversation starter, and no matter where you sat during the show, it was impossible not to be entertained and inspired.

The first segment of the collection felt like a final kiss goodbye to Summer. Watching how these bright hues and flowy silhouettes danced around the pool made us want to hold on to these warm nights for just a little while longer. The twin designers pulled from their Spring 2025 collection and introduced us to a few key pieces we’ll need for our warm-weather closets. What’s our favorite, you may ask? The Double Drape Slip Dress.

The collection moved into animal prints, which gave us all the Fall outfit inspiration we needed. Prints like cheetah, snake and zebra graced the runway while the pieces invited play with texture and silhouettes. Most outfits were accompanied by BruceGlen branded bags in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes.

Each collection was a seamless transition. BruceGlen did more than just introduce Denver fashion lovers to their brand; they were personable, inspirational and reminded us that in a space like fashion, which is so fast-paced and exclusive, there is always time to be present and kind to the people you encounter.

After days of travel, navigating 5,280 feet above sea level, organizing a fashion show while in the midst of preparing for upcoming fashion weeks in New York City and Milan, Bruce and Glen took the time after a long day to meet Color of Fashion attendees, take pictures and videos with almost everyone, and share more about their designs.

Whether it was intended or not, the arrangement of BruceGlen’s designs, starting from neutrals and moving into color, symbolized to us at The Curio Cabinet that it takes time to come into yourself and allow yourself the time to be bold and be you.

The energy that Color of Fashion brings to the fashion scene in Denver continues to inspire creatives and fashion lovers alike. Collaboration amongst volunteers, hair and makeup artists, designers and the CoF team results in an annual runway show that gets better and better each year, and Season V was no exception.
