Closet Tours: Meet Erika

Erika Dalya Massaquoi is the Founder of OULA, a fashion brand specializing in handmade African Wax Fabric dresses, tunics and more. She is also the owner of a historic home in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. With her eye for art and aesthetics that has been at the foundation of her life and career, Massaquoi’s home, closet and brand have been curated to withstand the test of time.

“OULA was built on the premise that aesthetics can serve as valuable, revenue-generating assets,” said Massaquoi.

Her commitment to style, intention and quality in every piece has positioned OULA as a sought-after brand for over a decade. She is deeply embedded in the Denver fashion scene, with many community-focused events and connections under her belt including a runway show at Color of Fashion’s Season IV: Mélange in 2024, entirely dedicated to OULA and the brand’s 10th anniversary.

Massaquoi’s pulse on style is versatile. When asked what her daily uniform is, she shared insight like opting for an “easy denim” and how an entirely black look will always be chic. While she often represents “the OULA girl” with color and prints, Massaquoi’s closet is also filled with vintage designer pieces that she can wear with confidence while withstanding the test of time.

The Curio Cabinet Closet Tours is a series exploring clothing collections from the best-dressed folks in Denver and beyond. We believe that entering someone’s closet is comparable to entering their mind or soul. As a result, we’re discovering the looks that make someone unique, which paves the way to understanding their personality and presence.

Follow along as we explore closets and if you have a wardrobe meant to be seen or know of someone who does, let us know at hello@thecuriocabinetmagazine.com.
