Spring ‘It Girl’ Accessories We’re Gravitating Towards

Spring is here and it’s hard to believe we barely got the chance to rock our leather, cashmere and velvet this winter. Although, the fashion trends ringing in Spring this year feel playful and exciting.

Spring is a great time to go big with accessories. A chilly morning calls for a poncho, and a good pair of sunglasses on a sunny day is a necessity. Leveling up with accessories isn’t effortless, but it’s fun to experiment with. Double belts, scarves tied in every way, lots of rings and over-accessorizing a fun challenge as the seasons change.

Several brands are fueling my accessories obsession this season, including Elizabeth Bay. Founded by Lily Chapman, whose raw and relatable content on both Instagram and TikTok positions her as a true “It Girl,” Elizabeth Bay combines the sassy, feminine and bold nature of the “cool girl” aesthetic that looks effortless, and packs a punch at the same time.

Accessories are “markers of character, something we can bond over, and something we collect and curate over a lifetime,” Chapman shared.

After launching only a year ago, Chapman has built a brand with collections that speak to women like her. She’s a young mom, but also an avid traveler, a committed friend to those in her circle, and a creative at her core. From writing for her Substack, to her creativity behind Elizabeth Bay, Chapman is inspired by her surroundings.

That’s why she created a brand that speaks to a fellow “It Girl,” and it has captured our attention. With several collections of tees, loungewear and accessories that are themed for Camp,” Hotel Stays and Love Languages,” Elizabeth Bay pieces add flair to a look, backed by quality and intention.

“The right accessories show up for you all day. They’re not just the finishing touch; they’re how we say who we are: nostalgic, romantic, colorful, minimalist. Even something as consequential as signaling whether we’re married or not,” said Chapman.

Brands like Elizabeth Bay are the key to finding both the place to start when styling an outfit, to the finishing touch. That sentiment is especially important as the seasons change. Crafting a seasonal accessories collection is all about finding the pieces to wear that make you feel good inside and out.

That’s why I’ve compiled the top Spring accessories on our radar, and where to find them.

BELTS

I returned from Paris Fashion Week exploding with inspiration. After a sales associate revealed a hack to wear a chain belt as a necklace, I have been itching to find ways to style everyday looks with both innovation and intention in mind.

This was a reminder that a belt can be created. Layering chain belts or scarves around the waist is innovative. I had an unexpected epiphany to wear a bolo as a belt recently, and it rocked. A belt is one of the first things an eye may land on when it comes to an outfit, so the cooler, the better.

I found my favorite bolo at Strawberry Mountain, where you can always find a great chain belt and will likely leave with a gem you didn’t know you needed, too.

I can’t stop thinking about the belts at Love.at.2nd_look‘s new store on West Colfax Ave., they are the versatile staples I’m gravitating towards daily.

EARRINGS

My newfound inner Parisian wants to go over the top with accessories at all times. From layering chunky necklaces, to wearing a million bracelets, or opting for major costume jewelry when it comes to rings and earrings. Enter the ear cuff, worn everywhere in Paris. They can be stacked, worn on each ear, worn alone, and paired with fun earring combinations. Recently, I opted for just the cuffs and no earrings, resulting in a chic way to still feel put together.

Mixed metals are my new obsession and I will be wearing both gold and silver going into Spring and Summer. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a gold cuff and just spotted one from Lady Jones, which might have to make it into my collection, where I’ll continue to experiment with earring combos.

Earrings are all the rage in general right now, and the Elizabeth Bay Button Earrings in both gold and silver are the perfect mix of chic, wearable, edgy and cool. Chapman wanted these to look exactly like a real button, serving as a statement piece for the craftiest of divas. It’s truly an earring made for a baddie.

WATCHES

Sometimes the best flea market finds are vintage watches. A flea market is typically home to watches that are funky, timeless, and can easily go with any outfit.

However, I am so ashamed to say that 100% of my watches don’t have a working battery. Yes, I have received recommendations for local jewelers who could change the batteries, no I have not inquired further. I just keep buying old, dead watches. Don’t ask me what time it is but at least I have a watch on?! This is one of those fashion over function scenarios for me.

In opting for a skinny watch, there’s more real estate on your arm for bracelets or sleeves or both. As the weather gets warmer, chunky can feel like too much in the heat. The daintier the accessories are, the better.

Banana Clips

Meet the banana clip. My mom left behind a literal box of these that I have sneered at for years, wondering why she needed one in every color and questioning how these are even useful.

Finally, I decided to put one on and now I am wearing it every single day. It’s a hack for the curly-haired girls who need a solution when day 2, or even day 5, natural curls are begging for a wash day.

A banana clip enhances volume and definition. Why opt for a ponytail when these mimic fresh hair extensions?! So glad that I held on to my mom’s banana clip collection.

COIN PURSES

Apple Pay makes things so easy that we don’t really need to tote big wallets around anymore. Opting for a coin purse means only the necessities can come along: a lip gloss, an ID, keys, and that’s about it.

A coin purse also keeps “must-have-on-hand” items in one place, especially for those of us transferring purses all the time.

Free People Movement’s Quilted Micro Pouch proves that functionality can lean towards casual or elevated.

Opt for a true coin pouch, like Elizabeth Bay’s Coin Pouch – Drinking Money to stash the go-to lipstick combo and throw it in a purse of the day. This helps to avoid that “I forgot the most important thing” feeling that happens when you switch purses all the time.

Brooches

Brooches are so good that all of the men in Hollywood are wearing them.

Arranging brooches on a jacket like a gallery wall is my love language. It adds so much dimension to an outfit with different metals, textures and vibes combined.

You’re guaranteed to find a brooch at Park Hill Treasures, an oasis of vintage with multiple vendors and curated sections of art, jewelry, clothing, accessories, glassware and more.

Accessories bring a look to life while encouraging an outfit repeat. In a way, accessorizing is contagious; it can spark a connection, lead to a compliment and bring personal style to the surface.
