TikTok Made Me Order It: Denver’s Chicken Caesar Wrap Era

How social media is bringing new life to local restaurants.

It’s not news that Denver’s dining scene is struggling, but today’s news is that Denver’s content creator scene could save it.

“Businesses should take these creators seriously. If you hear about a girl coming in to make a TikTok, be prepared for what it could do,” said Ivy Harris, General Manager of local Denver restaurant, White Pie.

Emma Hughes loves a chicken caesar salad wrap, and little did she know that sharing her favorite Denver spots offering her go-to meal online would bring so much attention to the dining scene. After ordering her favorite wrap from Mad Greens and posting a video, her nearly 20,000 and growing followers on TikTok were hooked.

Businesses like White Pie featured in Hughes’ series have gained a completely new and dedicated audience. “I’m basically learning how to manage a whole new restaurant right now. We did a week that was double what we normally do,” said Harris.

Mead St. Provisionsis appreciative of what Hughes’ series has done for their local spot, too.

“We have a complete new influx of customers and even people who live in the area keep coming back and sharing they found us because of [Hughes’] TikTok,” said Brynn Blackstone, Manager of Mead St. Provisions. “We appreciate what she’s done and the way she’s using her platform for positive things.”

In the digital world, there is a tangible impact from TikTok videos that influence the decisions audiences make in the real world. This series not only elevates and amplifies local businesses, but subconsciously it says, ‘look at what the power of social media can do.’ We’ve seen evidence that social media lives up to its name of being social and is a means for discovery and community.

“One spot told me they had 15 chicken caesar wrap orders in the first 10 minutes of opening the day after I posted. Another went from making around 15 wraps a day to over 100,” added Hughes.

In October, Denverite reported that “Denver has one of the nation’s sharpest drops in restaurant spending,” backed by debit and credit card data. While the restaurant scene is facing a decline in diners along with closures of both new and longstanding dining staples in 2025, Hughes’ series shows that Denverites are still eager to eat out. Maybe their preferences have changed, where diners are now seeking more affordable and easy options, with a chicken caesar wrap serving as the perfect example.

“I posted it thinking maybe a few people would relate or just close friends would comment. Instead, it became my first real ‘series,’ and even better, it happened within my local Denver community,” said Hughes. “Connecting with local businesses and people through food has been the coolest part.”

Although this series has been a huge hit, it also brought to light the reality of low staffing and resources for some of these local businesses. A sudden and new influx of business is not always easy to navigate for local restaurants.

Supporting local is a top priority for many Denver foodies this year, and Hughes urges us all to remember to give these businesses grace.

“A lot of these spots weren’t prepared for the chicken caesar chaos, and it takes time to adjust staffing and supplies,” she said. “Keep engaging with local content! So much of the impact wasn’t just me; it was the community choosing to support these businesses. Never forget how much power you have as a consumer!”

Is this proof that methods of getting diners in the door have shifted? Since many are spending ample time online, users are gravitating towards content that speaks to them, and as a result, SEO searches on social media are outpacing traditional SEO (like Google, Bing, etc) for younger generations.

We’d go so far as to say that Hughes started a movement, as TikTok users are posting their own chicken caesar wraps discovery series, expanding on her finds and ultimately driving new business to restaurants.

For others looking to share their lives online but may be hesitant to, Hughes encourages users to take that next step.

“If you feel that little ping to share something, build community, or start a conversation – follow it,” she said. “Life is short, we’re all on a floating rock doing this for the first time, and connecting with people is the best part of life.”
