Talented Twin Fashion Designers BruceGlen Are Bringing Joy to Denver

Bruce and Glen are identical twins, even down to their hot pink haircuts. They finish each other’s sentences and have the kind of connection where they’re always on the same page. The powerhouse fashion designers are the duo behind BruceGlen, a brand founded on the twins’ mission to bring joy to the world around them.

The brand began two decades ago when the twins moved to New York City, working for celebrity brands like Ecko Unlimited, Baby Phat and more.

Meanwhile, they were building BruceGlen. It started out focused on juniors but evolved to other iterations of a fashion brand — from slapstick leather cuffs, aka the bracelets we had growing up that you slapped onto your wrists, but in leather. Said BruceGlen cuffs were worn by Beyoncé, only of their many high-profile clients over the years.

The twins went on to try handbags and then t-shirts and despite their attempt to define the brand’s focus, nothing was working. They stepped away from BruceGlen in 2017 to work for the brand Taylor Bird, Bruce as a designer and Glen in social media marketing.

Fast forward to 2019, when the twins were on The Jennifer Hudson Show. They opened up to viewers about avoiding comfort. Their ministry background is at the foundation of the brand, with a strong spiritual connection guiding BruceGlen.

Their appearance on the show went viral and led to a resurgence of BruceGlen. This new iteration of the brand began with just one handbag, which eventually led to the creation of an entire handbag collection. When the pandemic hit, the two participated in a virtual global fashion presentation led by Brandon Stan. Now the brand was taking off, leading to an uptick in sales and conversations with leading department stores like Bloomingdale’s & Saks Fifth Avenue.

Today, BruceGlen pieces have their own distinct look, and the brand has been displayed at major fashion events, like New York Fashion Week.

Bruce and Glen turn 40 this year, so it’s a rewarding time for them and their brand.

“40 is going to be really special for us,” they shared. “We are approaching a threshold curve, because of the experience, because of the wisdom gained, because of life lived. We’re able to bring others into an experience of joy.”

It would be hard to wear a BruceGlen piece and not feel joy. The carefully crafted garments are patterned, colorful and made to order, proving that pieces from BruceGlen are truly one of a kind.

When it comes to entering a market like Colorado, BruceGlen is thrilled to be in a new space, as this partnership has been in the works for about two years and is finally coming into fruition.

“We are always really excited about building a community, making spaces and places where Black and Brown people can thrive and really express themselves,” the twins shared.

Color of Fashion notably encourages and builds up their diverse community every year to show up authentically and creatively from all over the Denver metro area.

While getting to know the Color of Fashion team, the name itself stood out to the designers, as their brand is also tied to color and bringing joy through color. Through this runway show, they hope to do exactly that, bring more color to the Mile High City and evoke joy through their favorite pieces.

“We’ll be sharing a medley of designs like some of our favorite pieces across a bunch of our collections,” said the designers. “The pieces that have become staples of BruceGlen have shaped and molded who we are as a brand, and you’ll see some new pieces as well,” they continued.

Color of Fashion shows arguably showcase the best fashion Denver gets to see every year, and this year guests can expect to see high fashion pieces in an array of bold patterns, colors, prints and even storytelling in the way the models will be arranged walking down the runway. The excitement and anticipation to share their story from beginning to end through their unique designs is something Bruce and Glen have been eager to do.

Following the show, all the BruceGlen runway looks and signature handbags will be available for purchase on site at the Color of Fashion after party. Attendees will also have a chance to meet Bruce and Glen and experience their warmth and joy in person.

“It’s really beautiful and exciting for us to tell our story this way, and also to tell the story from beginning to end. This is how we begin, and this is kind of what the collection has evolved into,” they shared.
