Marvin Lim Brings Private Dining to Your Home in an Affordable and Customer-Focused Way
There was one point where Marvin Lim was working not just two full-time jobs, but three. Free time was nonexistent, and that included any time or energy to cook meals for himself.
Although, it wasn’t food that Lim was craving.
He had heard of private chef experiences, but knew they were typically overpriced and not accessible. Yet he was pining for an affordable, easy way to access fresh, home-cooked meals.
Lim’s longing ended up replacing his three jobs as he is now the Co-Founder of TheKitchenTable, a simplified, personal chef experience.

The website launched in September of 2024, orders began to come in through October, and by January, Lim’s Co-Founder had quit his job to grow the business full-time. Lim was close behind him and was working full-time on TheKitchenTable by February of this year.
While The KitchenTable operates on a customer-first mindset, the company is also a way for chefs to find opportunities that are a perfect fit.
“You always hear about Gordon Ramsay, all the Michelin star chefs, but what about the 10 chefs behind the kitchen who you don’t know? What about the 20 chefs working 10-hour days, seven days a week, grinding behind a kitchen?” asked Lim. “So this is the platform that we can open up the box and say, ‘Hey, this is a platform, do whatever you want, be as creative as you want and we match you up with the clients of your choice.”
Growing up, Lim desperately wanted to be a doctor. Not solely due to the work itself, but because his passion lies in helping people.
“For me, it’s always helping people and serving people first,” said Lim. “I think my life goal, what I was put on this earth to do, is serving people and helping as many people as I can.”
Providing tools for chefs and resources for customers has given Lim a purpose and way of helping people beyond his wildest dreams.
“So I wanted to help out as many people as I can, like on a Chef’s side, opening up the box and giving them the tools. And for customers, it’s enjoying really great food and enjoying time with friends,” Lim expressed.
Lim is business-focused and entrepreneurial at heart, which has helped him scale TheKitchenTable rapidly.

Using LinkedIn, Lim was able to connect with and interview 80 chefs to understand the highs and lows of their roles and careers.
He also used LinkedIn and other tools to learn about his customer, and within a month of his first post, he had garnered chefs from 10 different states. Realizing quickly he had bitten off more than he could chew – no pun intended – Lim scaled down. TheKitchenTable is now currently serving Colorado and cities including Chicago, Houston and the state of Tennessee. The experience is affordable at $40-60 per person and with chefs that will cater to budget and experience preference.
Partnerships quickly became the bread and butter of TheKitchenTable. Lim works with apartment complexes across Denver to provide private dinners to residents, and he has recently partnered with Airbnb owners and property managers, working directly with hosts to offer an experience for guests.
TheKitchenTable Chefs are professional, with 10-30 years of experience and some who have cooked for prominent figures like Ed Sheeran, U.S. Presidents including Obama, Bush and Clinton, and even Prince. The platform helps Chefs promote themselves and bridges the gap that often exists in connecting with customers. Lim plans to tap into communities like culinary students and even grandparents who love cooking to continue to bring unique dining experiences to customers.
TheKichenTable essentially flips the typical narrative in private dining experiences. They start with the customer first by asking questions like: What are you celebrating? How many people are in your party? How much is your budget? From there, Lim and his team make it work.
